Health and Wellness

It was the brine from Hall that once spawned-off our city. With the dedication of the first "Solbad? (brine bath) in 1827, Schwäbisch Hall's development into a spa began. Since then, a health and a water sector have established themselves; today these sectors are equally frequented by people on day-trips and brief vacations.

The former Solbad has developed into a real health centre (160,000 visitors) with physio-therapy, massages, sound therapy, cosmetics institute and a private practise for spine training and nutritional consultations. Also, the Schenkenseebad with outdoor swimming pool and leisure time bath, sports basin, solar park and steam baths counts 560,000 visitors annually.

The main asset of the great health care system in Schwäbisch Hall is, of course, the Diakonie-Krankenhaus (Deaconry Hospital, 574 beds). This academic teaching hospital of the University of Heidelberg is a house of centralised health care. On top of these are another 100 general practitioners, medical specialists and physiotherapists as well as sports and fitness studios. Health insurances, health centres, educational institutions and the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für gesunde Lebensweise (Working Group for Healthy Living) offer additional events and health courses.

We regularly have specialists visiting the city for fairs and exhibitions, such as the Well-Vital Health Fair or the Haller Gesundheits- und Naturheiltagen (Health and Naturophathy Days), because tomorrow's knowledge is critical for the day after tomorrow's progress.

And progress is shaping up particularly in the wellness sector: The harmony of body, spirit and soul is seen as the market of the future. More and more people search for the mental and spiritual enriching supporting program on their "educational trip to the inner self". And a lot of it is available in the cultural centre of the region. And those who prefer recreational or active vacationing will find everything their heart desires, from hiking to paragliding.

Of course, hotel business and gastronomy are prepared for any typeof vacation. We also cordially welcome those who are in need of care, and their relatives: A number of establishments offer qualified andthoughtful care, so that caring relatives can have a chance to relaxfrom their day-to-day routines.

So our offers are enormous already today. But that is no reason for usto sit down and relax. On the contrary: In May 2006, the Indo-German-Cultural-Centre For Far East and Alternative medicine will be inaugurated. We are strengthening our strengths, according to the motto "tradition meets future?. We simply owe it to ourselves as a constanton the "Wellnessroute Salz & Sole? (Salt & Brine).
