Women's Academy

The City of Schwäbisch Hall knows about the importance of women for the labour market ? but it also knows about the difficulties that women have to master in their professional biography: 52 per cent of the social-security mandated workforce in Schwäbisch Hall are female. The doubled burden due to family and professional life is indisputable, problems with which women in Schwäbisch Hall are not left alone with. On the contrary: The city's Frauenakademie (Women's Academy) operates a further education forum exclusively for women.

At the Frauenakademie, women of all ages with different school graduations, professional and family experiences, as well as from different economic backgrounds, can study. According to their individual situation and their requirements, every female student designs her own program of study.
The six semesters encompassing study communicates learning and working technologies during an orientation phase. During the main program, work-related courses such as computer literacy, English, moderation and presentation techniques are offered, apart from general education seminars, such as sociology, history or sciences.

Knowledge and learned methods are then tested in reality: As part of projects, the students work with public institutions, like putting together radio shows, accompanying books for museum expositions or homepages. The study can then be completed with a certificate.

Many women choose to enrol in the Frauenakademie in order to develop new perspectives according to their individual capabilities and time constraints, and to receive further qualifications for a continuously changing labour market.
